Cantis, Shimano Br550 Or Paul Neo Retro??

Good chilly afternoon from the northeast.

I have a Surly XC that I built up for my commute beast, My original cantis were Tektro Oryx But I soon took them of as they didnt work out too well ,squealed bad , stripped an adjustment screw...

I then bought a pair of paul cantis Neo retro for the front and an old NOS pair of stoplights for the rear.

These were better than the Tektro but the stoplights are pretty limited as for stopping power (arms a pretty straight) and the NEOs although Retro and cool they require much fussing to keep them working right not to mention im using a fork mount cable stop so my cable travel is limited and the Neos require a long pull.

thinking of changing out to shimano BR550 as sheldon has advised and the BR550 were reccomended by a several folks that had similar problems with the pauls.

any input will be welcome.

many thanks
