Yes, I understand about the hackles being raised! So, I'll apologise for leaping to the conclusion that you would be English--except that you are !

It's actually because I am from Lancashire*, and I figure that one of these days I'll find more relatives here... .

So far I'm the only one in my family who seems to enjoy cycling though .

The solo touring in the Lake district sounds especially enticing, although I would not want to brave the tourist traffic on the main roads during the summer months. I remember the roads as being not very wide .

Good luck with the commuting, and continued success in recovery from the stroke.
