Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

So I figured: Why trash my investment? I will have another wheelset built and put the Speedcity wheels away until I get lighter.

So I did this:
Had a set of Deep v rims and Deore hubs built up with DT 2.0 spokes built with more tires and tubes and rotors and another cassette. Price: $520 or so.

So after spending $1200.00 on wheels, I am still not happy. Wanted 700 x 35c tires, but is not recommended for the thin Deep V rims. Deore hubs? I should have done better maybe. Spokes? Maybe double- butted? The builder said that the straight guage DT Champion 2.0 spokes were excellent for this application.

So you know where this is leading, right?

In a few weeks, I guess I am gonna have wheelset three built: Velocity Dyad (for the increased width) with XT hubs and those double butted, or alpine 3 spokes. Then I will be known as the jerk who bought $2000 dollars worth of wheels!

Damn, its like going to college (tuition included)

Cycling is like photography! We turn into gadget heads! Looks like you are going to be well set in the wheel department, on the bright side! Another aspect is that if you find a really sweet Italian steel handbuilt frame, you'll already have the expensive part out of the way.......high quality wheels!
