I haven't ridden it yet and thanks very much for the info. According to NYC.gov's bike map everything I've selected is doable, albeit as you said, with the need to walk certain bridges and crosswalks. I worry about riding on Fordham Rd. and Boston Rd. because I lived off of Fordham Rd. for a while and even though it is less crowded as you head east, people still drive very fast on it and there are no bike lanes. The other issue is what would be the best way then to head north from the tri-borough? Thank you for your service to the country!
