My wife lost her purse in downtown Heidelberg, Germany with hundreds of dollars, hundreds of D-Marks all kinds of personal ID and credit cards and passport. The person who found it turned it into the Polizei and they called within the hour to return it to us, intact. The finder did not want to be identified to us. Actually not that surprising, given my experiences with the locals after ten years of living in Germany. Still, it was quite a relief and the anonymous finder is a saint in my book.
