Hmm...got my January century in, purely by mistake. I wanted to visit the Monterey Aquarium, which would have been about 130 km round trip, but botched the navigation. I got to see some real pretty roads I never knew existed, got to hang out at a nature preserve pretending that "I'm not resting; I'm just fascinated by this mollusk display," got to curse the peculiar geological fact that hills are steep, and even found the aquarium eventually...it was almost closing time, though, so I touched the building's wall to verify that I'd made it, and staggered home in the granny gears just as my legs were about to file for divorce.
Still can't figure out why all them people in cars think we're crazy.
But it was a 166-km day, so I suppose I've joined the challenge, intentionally or not. I'll have to figure out what to do about February...actually plan a century ride, or just let my scrambled sense of direction do the job again?
Take care,
- Paul
