Keep the medium and don't offend the GF.... use it for shorter trips and learn to cut down your load.
PUR faucet filters are cheaper and make for less garbage than two jugs of water.
If you really need a bigger bag, figure out how much space you need and buy that chrome bag you've always wanted.
