You will probably get different answers but when I worked at a shop, and I got a bike that needed an upgrade, if the bike was one of those "boxed" bikes (take box out of box, put in pedals and handlebars, done), then usually, in the manufacturing process, they don't face the BB and headsets.
But our cutom bikes are usually pretty good. Nice clean BB and headset.
You are taking it to a shop to do it right? You aren't going to use a file or anything like that?
