I suspect my purchases have been about 30%/70% ride to no ride I am one of those genetic freaks that requires a frame in the larger size (60cm+) so finding one to test ride is quite often a challenge. I also like old school fit, where your saddle center is behind the BB and you stretch out on the bike. Of all the bikes I have purchased over the years I have only one that I could not make fit properly and get comfortable on. I did manage to sell it for what I had in it. Some bikes are more comfortable to me than others, but the common denominator is a higher than "normal" handlebar postion, Brooks leather saddle and steel frame, relaxed angles and a looong top tube. I have ridden aluminum, Ti, and CF and much prefer the steel. I have a couple of aluminum framed bikes, but they are not my normal high mileage ones.
