old road bikes

I'm primarily interested in tracing the ancestry of old road bikes. I got in the bike arena as a commuter who bought an truely wonderful PX - 10 Peugeot and have had a love for old bikes ever after. I'm currently ponder a Centurian Lemans RS that seems to be in good shape and am interested in dating its manufacture. It has 6 speed hub and indexed shifting with mostly if not totally Shimano parts. My other bikes range from an old Raleigh Marathon (touring); Trek 2300 fiberglass but an older version, and a Santana tandem (arriva) bought back in 1984 and still going strong.
