I have dumped old tires in the tire recycling bin at a local tire and auto shop. My tubes usually get several patches before they are totally retired. Unless they blow out. I have cut them up to use for repairing other things, like the one way flap valve on my son's stick vacuum. I use them for tie downs, gate return springs, and the like.
