There will be so many people online trying to get in that you should probably already be on the site so you limit the amout of access issues you have when a site gets overloaded like that. IM.com is not known for being a stable website.
And I agree with cjbruin. LP, CDA or IMMoo would all be much better destinations for an IM attempt. An IM is an IM, which is no small feat, but about anyone who has done IMFL and then another one says IMFL is a joke.
