The bigger tires are definitely a plus, but this being my first 29er, that's definitely a plus too. Here in Louisiana it's pretty flat, even on the local trails. There's small hills and lots of trees so roots are all over in some places. I don't really mind them on the 29er, but have had problems piloting through them on smaller bikes with smaller tires.
