. Seriously, I notice that a lot of clydesdales can rip it up out of the saddle on the short & steep hills better than those sticks can. I love bursting out of the saddle and leaving my visible-ribbed fellows behind on the incline.

That extra weight adds torque to your downstroke, so in the short run you can accelerate faster.
