can you change a generator light to battery?

My wife wants a specific look for this project, and part of that is a 40's-50's style headlight. I've found them with generators, but she informed me that she does not want a generator, she wants batteries. since it's electricity, I will make the huge leap of logic that all I will need is a battery, terminals, some kind of housing, a switch and the light(s). I'm not looking for KC daylighter output here, just enough to approximate what a generator would produce, or hopefully a little better.

I Would love some input, thanks.
