My this year goal is simple, to do at least one century ride, since I am in Canada, that would be a metric . I would like to also drop about 20lbs (goodbye Clyde status ).

My longer term goal is to do some bike camping, minimal equipment, it's one benefit of the bike, it forces you to minimize what you can take with you. I like to get away from it all, of course my SO can come along, but she would need to travel the same way, we could split the gear between bikes. She doesn't bike right now, but that problem can be fixed

Personally I can't see the point of these guys who haul a 53' "camping" trailer with a big truck, that's not getting away from it all, that's taking it all with you. Might as well stay at home, if all your going to do, is watch satellite TV and drink bear..... Some of them do exactly that, the trailer backs in, they get out, hook up the power and water, stick the tag on the site, go inside, and you don't see them, until they leave....
