If it is a Klein, they DO NOT recommend stripping the original finish (paint) for any reason. To rePAINT, lightly scuff the original paint, then primer & so on. Powdercoating is NOT an option.
Has to do with some propriatary treatment of the aluminum.

Aside from that, powdercoating is fine for bike frames.
I have an old Raliegh Technium frame in need of paint. Will the heat of a powder coat oven ruin the bonded joints on a glued frame?
