It comes down to whether you value riding or walking more. If riding, get road shoes and road cleats like Look or SPD-SL.
Some people prefer to use the same pedal system on all their bikes. I prefer to use the system that works best for the type of riding I do on that bike. Looks for the road bike, Eggbeaters for the MTB and commuter, toe clips for the town bike.
