Actually, the cable rubbing shown in that picture is on the fork "Lowers" not the stanctions. The "Stanctions" are the gold tubes that the "Lowers" slide onto!

Scratches on lowers are no big deal. Scratches (or rub marks) on stanctions will cause stiction and damage to your seals.

So, zip tie the heck out of the "line" against the lowers to keep it away from your stanctions.
