I think the commonly accepted line is SLO, but if you acutally divide the state in half its somewhere around Salinas. If you divide the state into thirds, real Nor-Cal starts above Sacramento, then there is Central California until a point just north of SLO/Bakersfield and then finaly So-Cal. (I drew a line from the NW corner of CA down to San Diego on Google Earth)

I can't remember where the line is drawn if you split the population in half, my guess is probably near SLO somewhere.

I live in SJC, but I used to live in Chico, does that count?
