Good point. First off, I've only ridden Juicy 7's, never Codes (but that will change in a few weeks, wOOT).

It's really just overkill. Adding that much more weight to your bike is unnecessary. When riding XC (at least my experience) you don't need the stopping like in DH when you're about to lose control on a chute, so you have to lock your rear brake, to avoid be launched off the trail. And with XC bikes, their what, 35 lbs MAX, while DH bikes can flirt with 60lbs.

It's kind of like disc brakes on road bikes (not necessarily hydros, but mechanicals). It's just not practical.
