I agree, you shouldn't be backpedaling that hard on the track. But again, he posted this in two forums and may very well ride the bike on the street. I ride my track bike to and from the velodrome and end up skidding/skipping it on occasion. At the moment I have two wheels sets so I suppose I don't need a lockring on my racing wheels but I have on a few occasions ridden my racing wheels on the street.

I'm just saying that I think your post was unnecessarily snarky, although truth be told I've been guilty of that many times myself.
