Go to DT Swiss's site and use their spoke calculator to determine the spoke lengths you need. Just plug in the rim, hub, and number of spokes you will use and you'll get an exact spoke calculation. When I did the rear on my MTB I needed to different sizes for the drive and non-drive side.

As far as general info...you guessed it. Sheldon Brown's site has some great info on lacing and truing wheels.
