I catch snakes for fun. I haven't been bitten yet, I don't plan on it. The only semi-venomous snake that I've caught was a northern banded water snake, but he was a small one. I almost caught the bigger one which was about 3'. I mostly catch garters. Ring necks are too uncommon.
Haven't had to deal with anyone else's snake bite either.
