I thought of getting the Hookworms. I currently have the IRC Mythos slick (has the small knobs on the outside, and a semi slick crosshatch/mini knob center's-26x1.95) The thing about them I don't like is the center traction. If you run the tires over say 45psi, they get a bumpy ride to them, that feels like a knobbed tire, and anything under that pressure, (for me, 280lbs) is like riding a flat. They brake really well though. Most my riding is off trails by the way. So I was curious how well the Hookworms would ride being as big and heavy as they are. Only size I could find were 26x2.5's, and the weight was double that of other road tires (most of the slick styles are around the 1.95 range in size). I was also considering the Maxxis Larson Oriflames (26x2.0 + they are on sale for like $12 bucks each, compared to $27 for the Hookworms) and the Maxxis High Roller Simi Slick($14, 26x2.35). Anyone ever ride these? Any suggestions on a tire similar to those three?
