Factors like those push up property & rental values. "Metro accessible" is always a selling point in the classifieds and real estate ads.
It might be more expensive to live in a place like that, somewhat offsetting the savings of not having a car (depending on the condition of the car, of course
) -- but not entirely -- and you wouldn't have to deal with the headaches of car ownership in DC.
