I've been living with ultra-icy winters in Los Anchorage for years now. I don't trust Yak Traxs for any serious ice. They fall apart after a time and wiggle too much under foot. They are OK for light ice for a few weeks a year. For more than that go with spikes of some kind, either strapped on or screwed into the sole of your boot directly.
