Well, a light gauge wool might do the trick. Wool does wick moisture better than cotton and doesn't get so smelly when you sweat. Maybe a cotton/linen blend? I just don't care for riding in cotton pants unless they have a little lycra in them (lots of women's pants do, no clue about men's). Knitted as opposed to woven cotton would be ok, but those are usually not suitable for work.
