The way I look at it, they're both 15 second folders. I.e. they fold small with no effort such that you can stow it away quickly. What you need for a suitcase is a 15 minute folder. I.e. something that folds really small but requires some tools and more time.

I've recently tried to take my Dahon Vitesse in a suitcase and failed miserably. I'm pretty sure I would have succeeded with my Swift.

I also think you should consider the non standard hubs on the Giant. The Dahon has a non-standard front hub.
