I just retured a pair of these to Nashbar. I ride all winter, regardless of temp. My feet were noticeably cold at 40 degrees F, so I knew they would not do much good in really cold weather. I'm sticking with my neoprene booties.
My wife's comment was "these are definitely warmer than regular shoes with booties...but not so warm that I won't need to use something additional when the really cold weather hits." We were riding in 39°F weather yesterday and after two hours her feet were cold enough that she knew another 10 degrees and she'd be hurting. Now she's trying to figure out whether her neoprene booties will fit over these SIDI Winter M's.
fwiw, I have winter shoes from Answer and my experience was exactly the same: they're much warmer than regular shoes with booties, but still not so warm that I think they'll work all winter without any additional help.
