The calipers seem really out of place. Do yourself a favor and pick up a $30 Tektro brakeset, they work way better than the old single pivot junk.
Nice bike overall though.
+1 - it's not a bad idea, provided that your bike has recessed brake bolts (although I'm inclined to say no) - otherwise it might be more hassle than it's worth. There's also the issue of reach.
But if you do, you might as well get some matching Tektro levers..
