Another +1 on Waterrockets advice. The reason to join a team is for teammates. People to work tactics with, to carpool to the start, maybe even to train with. It's more important to me that my team has people who live near me and race the same events as me. If the cost of a kit was my main motivation, I'd ride unattached and wear my plain jersey.
