I read the Peter White page, and have just got a pair of Hakkapelitta 106's, but after the snow this weekend, I wonder if I got the right tires for winter commuting.

Here in Ontario, the prevalent side road condition is hard pack snow and snowy clumps and ruts - the main roads get way over-salted soon enough (:. You get a little black ice but more snow. I don't have a lot of experience with snow tires, but I'm thinking these should cut through the snow more then the 106's do, and my rear wheel loses traction in any more than a few inches.

Most of the comments here are about buying tires for stability on ice, so I'd like to repeat the OP's question: which ones for snow?
