I was given this 20" Diamond Back Ascent EX MTB frame tonight by a Biotech scientist who posted it to CL.
Interesting fellow! He once worked at a bikeshop, and he's married to a former Canadian Cyclocross Champion. His basement and garage is full of vintage, exotic, and high end road and cx machines.
But back to the frame...
It's claimed to be an early 90s Diamond Back, which means it's a genuine DB before their bankruptcy.
It's True Temper AVR tubing, but the frame is made in China. I haven't been able to narrow down the year, as the fork is 1 1/8" threadless. Not the threaded units of early 90s Ascent EX bikes.
Anyone with knowledge of its lineage, please enlighten me.
Other than the fugly 'Barney' color, the paint is in good condition with few nicks.
