My old Specialized bottom of the line shoes have lasted me since circa 1998. I think they lasted so long because they are so simple. Just velcro straps and hard plastic sole. They are falling apart in places, but relatively indestructible. They also cost me $25, so I would say I got my moneys worth. Time for an upgrade though...
