Modifying PZ Racing AE 5.0 aero bars

I got some new aero bars. PZ Racing AE 5.0

Not the top of the line bars but should work well for me. I only paid $66.00 with S/H.

I want to modify them by drilling holes in the “Bull Horns” to route the brake cables internal. I am thinking of drilling one 3/16” hole on the underside 1 ½ inch from the end. The second 3/16” hole elongated just past the 90% bend on the underside. This will be repeated to the other side.

Will this cause any negative affect? Will this weaken the bars obsessively?

Has anybody done this to their non-predrilled aero bars?

Thanks for any input.
