Fascinating - I was just looking at a Miyata that had a bolt through the top of the seat stays. I thought the welds must have given out and it was repaired that way, but it was very well done. Now that you mention this I'm starting to think maybe the frame was made that way. Was this a common feature on Miyata frames?
