My roommate has a pair. He likes them alot. I wouldnt trust them cause I have broken plastic clips before, but he is a small guy.
I've broken steel clips before, but never plastic ones and I actually use plastic double gate mountain clips more often than steel road clips. By your logic I can't trust the steel ones, but the plastic are fine. By my own logic everything breaks, take care of it, and watch it for signs of wear.
