velocepidio is on target... the best thing to do is buy the lycra biking shorts....I am a new roadie and old lady mtn biker...the benefits of the lycra shorts is they do not get caught on your seat when you have to ride behind the back wheel and go back on the saddle during/after a steep descent.

If you want to go the liner routeerformance bike and nashbar have the best prices.

Keep asking the mtn biking questions: it is how we all learn. :cool:
