For now I'm going to build it up with what hand-me-down components I have laying around and get some entry-level stuff to fill in the gaps (Shimano 105, seatpost and headset from loosescrews.com, etc...). As a benefit I'll be able to store it under my bed and take up as little space as possible in my apartment! If I like the way the couplers work I may have them built into my next bike - probably a custom steel frame. Who else has experience with a bike equipped with these things?

I like the idea of having the couplings on a steal frame for travel purposes. I think in the end, you'll keep the bike upright because it takes a lot of work to "break apart" the bike while removing the wheels and getting your hands dirty with the chain.
