Yes you could press that pin back in if your in a pinch. Just don't lube it like I've seen many people do. What I would recommend is going to the shop and buying a Wipperman reusable link. Their only a couple of bucks and you'll never have to reuse a pin again. They are the same idea as a Sram powerlink, and compatable with Shimano chains.
