Good idea. There is also a lot of information on the internet. A librarian might be able to help the OP find lots of information on various cities. Since the OP has some health issues, it might be a good idea to check out the quality of health care in different locations.

Big cities can be nice, but smaller cities seem to have their own advantages for carfree living: less traffic, shorter travel distances, cheaper housing (especially in central districts), lower crime rates, easier access to health care and social services, and friendlier people.
