Nice way to label this. I too have a "Spring knee". However, mines a bit different. My right knee is always tender when riding in temperatures below about 70 degrees, and it doesn't matter if I'm wearing insulated tights or spinning at 90+ rpms. Hope your rest and Ibuprofen do the trick for you.
