I'm not sure that strikes by transit and refinery workers will translate into an increase in bike sales. I didn't see anyone quoted in either article exclaim, "Gosh! I better go buy a bike!"
At any rate, I'm not very impressed with the transit workers in Toronto; striking with no warning whatsoever seems like a really good way to alienate people, thereby almost guaranteeing the failure of the strike. This is especially true if the strikers are already making a lot of money to begin with.
