I sprint a head then look back. As the group begins to catch up, I take the pic. I look back when I know there aren't any cycilst coming from the opposite direction. So at that point I'm going maybe 15 mph which is no problem. Sometimes I raise the camera over my head or over my shoulder, shoot and hope for a good shot without looking back.

I find it strange that several riders think that because you turn around, you worry about crashing. Not so if you plan it right. But then again I wipe the glass from the rear wheel by placing my hand between the rear wheel and the seat tube. Heard of several crashing while doing it. I've been doing for 10 years, never had a problem. Some can't ride without hands and i can ride for miles and miles. Maybe it's coordination?

Now typing, heck I can barely do that while sitting still in a chair!
