wider tire in front is usually a good set up. narrower tire in the rear gives you less rolling resistance, and the wider one up front gives you more control, and factor in that you should be using your front brake more than your rear. p.s. unless the 1.8 is for the mud i would recommend atleast 2.0/2.1 for trail use, or even racing.
