Talking Ouachita Mountains

I went up to the Ouachita Mountains in Oklahoma saturday for a little day ride along the Talhmina Parkway. What a ride. While I was there, I was getting some information on the Ouachita National Recreation Trail that runs from Talhmina to just west of Little Rock, Ark and learned that all but about 6 miles of the 165 mile trails is now opened to mountain bikes. I can understand why that short section is not open for bikes. It's rough enough for backpacking.

What does that mean for us? We have 158 miles of mostly single track to ride at our hearts content close to home. I am thinking of riding some of the trail sometime in September. If anyone is game, your welcome to come along. Just let me know and we'll set up a time to get going.

Now not only is there geat riding along the parkway but also along the trails as as well.
