If you're hoping there's another racecourse in Sac besides the Bike Trail, good luck. Other than what's been suggested you might consider strapping your bike onto your car every weekend to seek other scenic venues. Northern California is a big place, and weekends are meant for breaking up the daily monotony. Next time you're at Borders Books you should look at Northern California Biking (Moon Books 2007) by Ann Marie Brown. Go online at railstotrails.org and traillink.com to find old railbeds that have been converted to bike trails. There's one right here in Sac, but it takes you to Rio Linda. No offense to people in Rio Linda, but I think you can do better.
