It is easy to think that bike touring is entirely a physical challenge. Train enough and you can do anything on bike, the thinking goes. But, this isn't true.

It always helps to be in top physical shape. However, no matter what kind of shape you are in, there are going to times that you just don't have it. It could rain, wind, fatigue, food, being along, riding partner trouble, or just plain boredom. It could also be the fear that you won't be able to finish the ride you are about to undertake.

You are just now learning that bike touring is, in large measure, a mental challenge. You are feeling that challenge right now. Just like you will feel when the road keeps climbing and you legs don't want to push anymore, you have to decide if you really want to bike tour or just give it up and do something else with you time.

You don't pass or fail a bike tour. You do your best to enjoy yourself.

Go for it. You won't regret it!
