Do I dare put road cranks on my track bike?

As much as I love my new Fuji Track, i'm not so crazy about the cheapo crankset..an FSA branded bootleg RPM piece. There's a very lightly used Ultegra road crankset that my dad pulled off of his Lightspeed just sitting in my garage. The chainwheel is 52-39 and is pretty much useless to me, but the cranks are in good condition, seem to be high quality and are quite light. Is there any reason i wouldn't be able to or shouldn't throw these cranks on my bike (besides the obvious fact that my bb will explode into a fiery ball of riser bars and aerospokes as soon as is comes in contact with them)? I'd probably ditch the junky chainwheel and pick up a Sugino Messenger to use with the cranks.
